Trained at the University of Denver for both my Master's and Doctorate, I have worked in college mental health since 1997 and in private practice for over 15 years.  I live in Ithaca, NY, and have a full-time private practice seeing clients for individual and group therapy.

Psychology translates to the study & work of the soul. Connection is healing, and through the relationship I build with clients, we can understand interpersonal and intrapersonal experience toward a healthier view of self and self-in-relationship. We never outgrow our need for connection, and for many of us, we have been harmed in relationships that now keep us from cultivating new connections with others.  My therapy style is to help you focus on the ways you feel stuck in yourself or your relationships, to feel secure within yourself, in order to become unstuck and move forward in your life toward contentment, joy, and even new connections.

I have expertise in working with those who struggle with self esteem and self-worth, issues with anxiety, depression, trauma history, relationship patterns that emerge over time and can become problematic, performance anxiety with music students or musicians or other performers. My practice is welcoming for those who identify as LGBT, including transgender or gender nonconforming individuals.

Through individual and group therapy, I help people heal, feel less alone, connect more deeply with themselves and with others. I run groups for people with concerns about patterns in their relationships. You will learn more about yours and others' relationship dynamics and practice in this "relationship laboratory." People will heal their relationship to self and others through this group process. Groups are confidential, brave space to bring your curiosity and compassion. See the "Why Group Therapy" link for more information about interpersonal process groups.

Through our work together, I hope to encourage your belief in your ability to seek your deep purpose, to take responsibility for the change in your life; to allow self compassion to emerge with the parts of you who have experienced suffering; to help heal from traumas that continue to be in your way or keep you stuck.

I am trained in a number of modalities to help clients access healing, including AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), interpersonal/relational work, Interpersonal Process Group Therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing).
